Pastor John has been the pastor-teacher of Grace Church of Napa Valley since 1994 and in pastoral ministry since 1981 both as a pastor and church planter.

The Lord used the teaching time at a winter Young Life camp to help Don come to understand at the age of 16 that he was a sinner and that Christ is the Savior. Responding to His grace Don’s heart was changed. From then on he has sought to serve the Lord. “He has blessed me with opportunities at every turn,” says Don. While attending Cal he helped plant a church in Concord. He eventually met Connie, his wife to be, while serving at Berkeley Covenant Church. After their marriage in 1984, they were an integral part in starting Christ Community Church in Fairfield where Don served responsibly in leadership and teaching capacities for many years. Since moving to Napa, Don has been an instructional coach and member of the teaching staff at Vintage High School. At Vintage he serves as a co-advisor to the VHS Students for Christ Club.
Since coming to Grace Church his desire is to shepherd God’s people. In light of Ephesians 2:8-10 Don says “I am His workmanship, created for the good works He has prepared for me to walk in as a proof of my faith, not a condition of it. I do not work for my salvation, but because I am saved I work.”
The prayers of a faithful, God fearing mother and the power of God to call Oscar from his worldly ways at the age of 27 led him to a new life in Christ. Ephesians 2:4-5 clearly expresses this power and Oscar’s life transformation by the grace of God. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ…” From that time on the Lord gave Oscar the desire to know Him, to develop a deep and personal relationship with Him and to share this relationship with others through proclaiming the gospel in preaching, teaching, counseling and discipleship. Blessed beyond his wildest dreams, the Lord graciously developed a tenderness and understanding in Oscar that has resulted in a strong marriage, children who are seeing a father’s faithful walk with Him and as he expresses it “the privilege to serve as a member of the Elder Board of Grace Church.”
On staff at Grace since 2006, Oscar serves as the Business Administrator for Grace Church. Prior to coming to Grace, Oscar worked in the banking and financial industry. He has over 30 years’ experience in information technology as a system analyst and management. Oscar earned his B.A. at Simpson University. He has also taken courses in Biblical Counseling from The Master’s College ISP. Oscar and his wife, Angela, have three grown children.
Steve and his family have been a part of the Grace Church family since 1987. He is currently serving enthusiastically as the AWANA Commander. Steve was raised in a Christian home. His father was a Baptist Pastor. Because his father pastored churches in Redding (CA), Medford (Oregon), and Caldwell (Idaho) his family moved quite a few times while he was growing up. At a very early age, Steve responded to God’s call with conviction trusting that Christ’s work on the cross was for him.
Steve met Tammy at a church in Hayward and they were married in August, 1985. A year later they moved to Napa County where he began his career with the Napa Fire Department. Steve and Tammy have three daughters Jessica, Kimberli and Elizabeth. Steve quickly acknowledges God’s faithfulness having witnessed it his entire life.
